Been reading the 53 pp. report "Iranian Nuclear
Weapons? The Options if Diplomacy Fails" by
Anthony H. Cordesman and Khalid R. Al-Rodhan
[Working Draft, Revised: April 7, 2006--from CSIS]
You can access the pdf document through the main
page: http://www.csis.org/isp/
It's worth reading. Lists options--likely
consequences too--for many scenarios involving
sanctions, bombings, Iranian counterattacks, etc.
The bottom line on military action is that
"If the US chose to strike at the necessary level
of intensity, it could use conventional weapons to
cripple Iran's ability to function as a nation in
a matter of days with attacks limited to several
hundred aim points. "
The options are quite complex and so are the
consequences.
