donalmcevoyuk@xxxxxxxxxxx quotes from Phatic

>"And neither before breathing."
>Johnny Weismuller, On Swimming.

It may do to define "music". Mousa, in Greek, is the source.

Grice (if you've heard of him*)

 are hungry.

For Grice, language is SACRED, but many other things (which mean) are NOT
linguistic. Take bird song.

It is a commonplace that human music is imitative of music in nature, as
per bird songs, etc. (J. K. was referring to the _beat_ of nature,
elsewhere).

Does bird song count as music? Darwinistically, it does. Bird song (unlike
SOME folk song) fulfills a _sexual_ function. L. Armstrong quoted:
"Folksong? I never heard a horse singing one."

Derrida is trying to be clever. Weissmuller isn't.
Cheers,
Speranza

--- Johann Peter Weißmüller, (genannt Johnny Weissmuller, getauft auf den
Namen János Weißmüller; * 2. Juni 1904 in Freidorf, Österreich-Ungarn, heute
ein Stadtteil von Timișoara, Rumänien; † 20. Januar 1984 in Acapulco,
Januar 1905 in Ellis Island, New York ankamen.
