Besieging a City

Besieging a city isn't as simple

As it's cracked up to be. Do it

Wrong and you've got a sieve

With nothing left but

Old folks and kids;

So you want to come

In from all sides

Assuming your target has sides;

Which they never do - always

Some outlying buildings and that's

Where they always are;

So you've got to start

Further back and

Sweep her up as you might

Dust in a bin, forcing her

Back toward the center

Which is always a problem

For she'll be evasive.  They

Never want to commit.

She'll have umpteen reasons

Why you shouldn't even be there.
