What kind of potential change do you see happening outside the political process?
The world economy has sustained global oversupply. That forces technocrats to adapt to the resulting change in societies, to accustom people to diminished expectations, to make changes with or without popular consent, to make diminished expectations appear "moral" or to make resistance to such changes appear backward and futile.
Contrary to what Carol wrote, I was not describing two aspects of conservative politics. Liberals tend to be globalists in the media theater; conservatives tend to be nationalists in the media theater.
It's media theater because, whatever one's ideology, the changes wrought by the entry of at least a billion and a half new capitalists into the global economy have ripple effects that are outside the political process.
