John: Nice slogan. Belied by the historical norm that Generals are always ready to fight the last war.



Probably the most egregious example of this was in the Spanish-American War, our forces commanded by old Civil War generals, many too old and obese to get out of their tents, trying to refight the battles of their prime.

On the other hand, another historical norm is that the US always plays catch-up, as we did in WW2. Despite all the paradigms of WYSIWYG and "come as you are" warfare, I think catch-up is built into the system.
