I did notice that you said amago quoted, not amago wrote. I figured your
version was updated for today's bicycler.

Matter of fact, the parody seems to be an attack on the institution of
'marriage'. As you earlier wrote (in "Gripes"):

    it falls under Predation,
assuming the sociobiological
theory of Dawkins et al., that males'
    money and power encourage females
to breed more than any romantic
    considerations.

         Refrain:

Daisy, Daisy,
     Give me your answer, do
     I'm half crazy,
All for the love of you
It won't be a stilyish marriage
           I can't afford a carriage.
           But you'll look sweet
           On the seat
Of a bicycle built for two.

Michael, Michael,
This is my answer, dear.
I can't cycle,
it makes me feel so queer.
If you can't afford a carriage
      Forget the blooming marriage.
      For I be damned
      If I get jammed
In a bicycle made for two.

--- It was a geisha of Broadway who popularised this song, in the early
1920s. Incidentally, the _verse_ (below) to the original 1898 song was pretty
risque in its innuendos: the _use_ of the female body (notice the surname of
"Daisy" is "Bell", that the singer _rings_, while he allows her to use the
_brakes_ on her. Talk of the mechanics of sex...

A BICYCLE MADE FOR TWO

Verse 1

There is a flower within my heart,
Daisy, Daisy!
Planted one day by a glancing dart,
Planted by Daisy Bell.

Whether she loves me or loves me not,
Sometimes it's hard to tell.

Yet I am longing to share the lot
Of beautiful Daisy Bell.

REFRAIN

VERSE II

We will go tandem as man and wife,
Daisy, Daisy.
Ped'ling away down the road of life,
Me and my Daisy Bell.
When the road's dark we can despise
P'licemen and lamps as well;
There are bright lights in the dazzling eyes
Of beautiful Daisy Bell.

REFRAIN

Verse II

I will stand by you in wheel or woe,
Daisy, Daisy!
You'll be the bell which I'll ring, you know.
Sweet little Daisy Bell.
You'll take the lead in each trip we take,
Then if I don't do well;
I will permit you to use the brake,
My beautiful Daisy Bell.

Refrain:

Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer, do
I'm half crazy, all for the love of you
It won't be a stilyish marriage
I can't afford a carriage
But you'll look sweet
On a seat
Of a bicycle built for two.
