Per dovere di completezza, dopo aver aggiornato da ubuntu 7.10 a 8.04
ho risolto quello che era un problema di risoluzione dello schermo.
Se a qualcuno servisse per il futuro, per far funzionare una scheda
con chipset cn700:
-installare gli openchrome
-mettere "via" come driver
Riavviare.
Spero possa servire a qualcuno che come me ha avuto parechci dubbi.
