Hi,

Could you please tell us which tools you used?

For schematic capture I used xcircuit:

    http://xcircuit.sourceforge.net

which is a drawing program with utility far
beyond schematic capture. It is unique as
it uses postscript as its native format.

what about import/export capabilities? Did you design all the symbols from scratch? Is it capable to import symbols from existing libraries (OrCAD, Protel etc.)?

For PCB layout, "PCB":

    http://pcb.sourceforge.net

Which has taken the better part of a decade
to get usable IMHO.

What about importing the netlist generated by xcircuit? Was it straightforward?

The board in question has a rather simple design and layout. For more complex cases I'd look at gEDA:

    http://www.geda.seul.org

which was still in the process of gelling
last time I checked (over a year ago), so you
may want to have a look for yourself.

Again, have you any idea about its importing capabilities?
