[Linux-Anyway] Help -- postfix won't send

Just reinstalled slack. Many troubles, & gentoo wouldn't write
to the boot sector.
Now, no matter what I set in postfix main.cf, mail won't send.
I get:
Connection faild to localhost:25 Connection timed out.
But port 25 is open....
