[Linux-Anyway] Hard drive confusion

  I just moved a vfat drive from my Windows 'puter to my Linux
'puter, set fstab with:

/dev/hdb1        /backup          vfat        noauto,user,rw   0 1

  So, I go to change ownership, & all I get are "Operation not
permitted" errors:

# chown meph /backup/
chown: changing ownership of `/backup/': Operation not permitted

  Huh?  Am I forgetting something...?
