[liblouis-liblouisxml] Suggestions on pagenumbering

Hi all

I have a few remarks/suggestions/ideas regarding the use of pagenumbers in liblouisxml:

* If a 'pagenum' command is the very first command, or if it immediately a 'newpage' command, liblouisxml doesn't add a page break indicator, which is fine, but the print page number is not updated either.

* If a 'pagenum' command immediately precedes a 'newpage' command, liblouisxml does add a page break indicator and the print page number of the next page is a continuation number. Maybe it is better to drop the page break indicator and update the print page number on the next braille page?

* I think it would be useful to support "combined print page numbers". A sequence of 'pagenum' command could be processed as follows:

- the print page number is updated to: "X-Y" (where X denotes the first pagenum of the sequence and Y denotes the last pagenum) - print page number on continued braille pages consists of only the last(!) pagenum of the sequence, preceded as usual by an unspaced letter (a/b/c/...)

* Another suggestion is to include the possibility to precede braille page numbers in preliminary pages by 'p' (brailled without the letter indicator).

* Multiple 'newpage' commands (newpagebefore & newpageafter) are currently added up, unlike the 'newline' commands (newlinefore & newlineafter). Wouldn't it be better to merge these 'newpage' commands too?

Any thoughts?
Bert
