It is best to use only the characters from hex 20 to 7f, that is the
ordinary printable characters in a table. Never use UTF-8. For
characters outside this range use the notation \xhhhh, where hhhh is the
Unicode value of the character. This will enabloe everyone to read the
table, since it does not require a special keyboard. For an example,
look at the table chardefs.cti especially near the end.
