You could upgrade to CentOS 6. That contains autoconf 2.63, but the
color option was only introduced in 2.65 AFAIK. So there's not that much
of an incentive in upgrading. I'm using Ubuntu LTS which comes with
autoconf 2.68 and is supported for (almost, if not just) as long as
RHEL.
