And, no, that's not a problem with the dark slider. The problem, it seems, is that the light was very "flat", and in my rush to use the dark slider (usually, that's all I do, so as to not blow the highlights) I neglected to realize that I did have room for adding some additional brightness first! Check again, and you'll see the results of both contrast and dark slider. (Had I done it all with the contrast control, the highlights would be blown, for sure!) I think you'll agree, it's better. (I you don't, please do not hesitate to tell me!) As for the pose, it was only for a second, as she watched her mate fly away. In the original (a horizontal shot) you can just see his tail feathers in the upper left of the frame. And, yes, I rather liked the pose, too. :-) Thanks for the "heads up" and for taking the time to look.
