David, I noticed your name thought it would male for a nice comment :) I have solved my motor drive problem. I advance the manual film lever when I insert new film and make the first shoots until counter=01 manually then everything works as a charm. Having a motor on the camera completely changes the feel of the camera even though it is quite heavy I really like it. So the size of the DMR wouldnt be a problem form me. Now where did I place those lottery tickets..... Thanks for the pointer... Andrew's FAQ had just the information I=20 needed. (And, I was surprised to find myself quoted there!) I was not asking for myself, for my early German production R8 (s/n=20 2292xxx) was upgraded, under warranty, long ago. I was curious, as I=20 have two chaps inquiring about my Winder R8 and it was that device which = usually triggered any malfunctions! So I was trying to help them along,=20 making sure that it goes to a buyer who can properly use it without any=20 problems. As for your R9 for film... heck, use the R8 for film and the R9 for the=20 DM-R. There are a few niceties in the R9 that are not in the R8 for DMR=20 use. For one, turning off the camera turns off the DMR. Not so with the=20 R8. I must turn off the camera, and then the back, separately. Of=20 course, I can turn off the camera, and after 5 minutes the back will=20 turn itself off... but that wastes battery life! Still, the DMR/R8 or 9 combo is the finest digi-cam I've ever seen or=20 used. Pity it's so damned expensive! Still, I considered upgrading my 20D to Canon's 5D, but the price of it=20 was very near that of the DM-R... and I'd still be using stop down=20 metering! Despite the DMR's foibles, I do not regret paying it's price,=20 for a moment!
