> http://www.canonrumors.com/?pg30 > Looks like the prospects of Someone (Anyone) making a non-bayer filter Sensor to compete against Sigma's Fovenon Sensor has switched status from "wished-for" to "possible". Canon has filed a patent for a way to design a multi layered imaging sensor so someone at Canon has at least put some level of work into designing a Non-Bayer-Filtered imaging sensor. Of note to myself in the article is that Canon is a manufacturer of imaging sensors so there exists a route 'in house' to make a design a reality and some institutional experience in coming up with workable designs and avoiding the pitfalls (in theory anyway). So, there exists reason to hope a patent for them carries more weight than if Tom the Tinkerer from Topeka had filed the patent.
