Hi Douglas,
Nice to have a window into Hanover - like the shot with reflected
Rathaus on the pond the most.

Hi Phil,
Thanks for sharing your African safari pictures. Nice use of your 400mm lens!
The least expensive way to get into digital is to get better scans
made. I find that Longs Drugs Stores in the Bay Area use the same
commercial scan/print system as Walgreens (Fuji Frontier) but unlike
Walgreens, some of the Longs technicians are willing to increase the
resolution and scan as TIFF files with no additional charges. YMMV,
but I have been reasonably content with my Longs Drugs Store
experience and the thing to do is to cultivate a rapport with a
knowledgeable person in charge of the processing machine. My friend
Wayne at the Fremont Hub Longs can even scan 120 & 220 negatives on
the Fuji Frontier because "he be da man!"

This shot of the Running Tiger Tea House in Hangzhou is an example of
such a scan that had minimal Photoshop post-processing. It isn't a
fancy photo by any means, but suffices to demonstrate the detail (see
foliage) available with a grocery/drugstore Pictures on CD service.

I personally prefer this next one of Thunder and Wind Pagoda:

Same roll of Fuji 200 film, but with a bit more Photoshop curve
adjustment to balance out the background against the dark foreground.
These were both from December '05 with a Summicron-M 35mm 4th version
on a Konica Hexar RF. The rest of the album is here; some of you on
the list may think this is old news - sorry ;-) !
