Hmmmmmm......I'd have to go back to David's brief history on that. Seem to remember there was an English guy called Fox Talbot who had a lot to do with it. If you're ever in England, Xavier, a visit to the FT photo museum at Lacock, Wiltshire, is well worth it. You can even gaze out of the window in the Abbey which features in one of his first permanent prints. It's a very photogenic village too.
