Les Kaye became curious about Zen in the 1960s. He started sitting with Shunryu Suzuki-Roshi at San Francisco Zen Center. But the offshoot of San Francisco Zen Center in Mountain View was closer, so he practiced regularly there. He was ordained after a few years of practice, and became teacher of the Mountain View group at Kannon Do Zendo.
