The Long-tailed Tit (Aegithalos caudatus) (also called Long-tailed Bushtit) is listed in a checklist of Japan I created from the Cornell University worldwide ranges data. Both of your pictures are posted on this page: http://www.ryot.org/reddit-users-vote-japanese-long-tailed-tit-cutest-bird-ever/515053 , where it is called the Japanese Long-tailed Tit. hahahahaha Floyd Robertson ----- Original Message ----- From: AW To: leasbirds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, December 31, 2013 9:45 PM Subject: [leasbirds] Re: japanese bird -----Original Message----- >From: whisp@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx >Sent: Dec 31, 2013 3:38 PM >To: leasbirds@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Looks clearly like long-tailed tit (Aegithalos caudatus). In Europe, the large amount of white would classify it as the Northern European version (in contrast to the darker British and Western European). As I don't have any Asian field guides, I don't know how far East this species normally spreads, but there is a significant number of bird species that is found all over Europe, Siberia, up to Japan. Hope this helps...
