Hi everyone - I saw the 'usual' birds yesterday - i.e. the ones that have been hanging around lately in the Leftwich Park playa. The only change was an unusual number of shovelers - usually there are four or so, yesterday there were 12. There were also 6 black necked stilts, a couple of avocets, two yellowlegs and a couple of dowitchers. During the winter there were a lot of widgeons, as many as 40. Now there are only a handful. The playa looked like it gained a little water from the rain this past weekend. Tom Dolan 69th and Elkridge Lubbock, Texas
