Very briefly stopping at Clapp Park this evening, among the usual suspects I
saw a merlin, and a ruby-crowned kinglet, its crown quite strikingly visible.

I led a field trip of sorts to Clapp Park this morning. In attendance: Jim
Crites, Drew Harvey, Anthony Hewetson, Tess Trost, Janice Whittington, and
Angelina (Lena) Zappia.
All told, we located 43 species of bird in three hours with the following
highlights: 3 Wood Ducks, 1 White-breasted Nuthatch, 1 Winter Wren, 1
Golden-crowned Kinglet, 1 Brown Thrasher, 5 Cedar Waxwings, 2 Orange-crowned
Warblers, 1 Fox Sparrow, 1 White-throated Sparrow, and 1 flyover male
Yellow-headed Blackbird.
