Lundy and All,
At our spring training next week, the children's library staff in Southeast
Oklahoma will address our concern for child safety in public places,
specifically public libraries. This is not a new topic, but several
incidents (and many potential ones) in SEOk recently have led us to make
this a focal point for education in our libraries again.
For those of you working in this area who will be at our meeting tomorrow,
if you have on hand good resources or reference materials related to child
safety, protection and prevention of abduction, immediate response steps,
etc. and could bring a copy (16 if you have in bulk) we would appreciate
sharing with the system. Target audiences are the professional library
staff, volunteers working with children, the families and children
themselves. I will be there for the meeting and before it starts as well.
