Presentation: Moving from a Centralized to Distributed Version Control
System
Distributed Version Control Systems (DVCS) have been all the rage in the
blog-o-sphere. For a long time, I attributed it to just some buzz about the
latest thing that would soon die down. Our Centralized Version Control
System (CVCS) would add the features needed to compete, right? However, the
buzz didn’t die down and I started to realize that our CVCS couldn’t totally
change it’s stripes in order to compete. Almost every day, I would see
another open source project move to a DVCS. What were we missing? Join me as
I detail our move to a DVCS – why we did it, what we gained, and what we
learned.
