   Microsoft’s User Group Support Services (UGSS) and Microsoft’s Worldwide
Developer and Platform Evangelism Team (WWDPE) have partnered to host a
series of Workshop Training sessions specifically focused around supporting
the User Group Speaker community. Our next event in this series is “*
Microsoft* * Windows* *7: How IT Pros Use Automated Tools to Deploy Windows
7 ”*

Microsoft recently released major updates to its client and server operating
systems.  Gartner recommends that enterprises move to Windows 7 right now
and estimates that +90% of all enterprise desktops will run Windows 7 by
2012. This represents a unique opportunity for UGSS members to share
valuable how-to information on Windows 7 deployment.



In this training session, we will review the build-of-materials (BOM)
developed for this two-day workshop.  The Windows 7 Deployment Workshop
includes modularized sessions, with optional hands-on-labs, designed to
ready IT Pros to deploy Win7 using automated tools.  The BOM made available
to participants post the online training event includes presentations, demos
and hands-on labs (level 300-400).



The Windows 7 Deployment Workshop technology focus includes:

*Day 1 - **Win7 deployment using Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT)*

·         Migrating User Data using the User State Migration Tool (USMT)
4.0.  Lab: USMT 4.0

·         Introduction to deploying Windows 7 using the Windows Automated
Installation Kit.  Lab: Configuring an answer file with Windows SIM

·         Image Engineering with Windows AIK. Lab: Image Engineering with
Windows AIK

·         Deploying Windows 7 with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
Lab: Deploying Windows 7 with MDT

·         Advanced Windows 7 Deployment with MDT. Lab: Advanced Windows 7
Deployment with MDT

*Day 2 - Win7 application compatibility using App Compat Toolkit (ACT)*

·         Using ACT 5.5 to prepare migration from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Lab: Using ACT 5.5 to prepare migration from Windows XP to Windows 7

·         Mitigating Application Issues Using Shims. Lab: Mitigation Using
Shims

·         Windows 7 Deployment with System Center Configuration Manager.
Lab: Windows 7 Deployment with ConfigMgr
