PLEASE DISTRIBUTE WIDELY
At present the Sprague River is at 7.5', and minor flood stage is 8.5'. The NWS
forecasts it to go down and then come back up and reach minor flood stage early
Saturday afternoon. If the river reaches 8.5', life, property and the
environment are at risk; there is a high likelihood that structures will be
affected. The Sprague River flooded in 1997 from the same conditions (snow,
rain, warm temperatures and melt) and crested at 9', damaging approximately 46
structures.

Actions to be taken for residents in the Sprague River Valley:
1. Read the attached, or see the below link, for detailed flood-fighting
information.
2. Sand bags and sand will be made available to anyone who needs them.
They can be picked up starting Wednesday, February 8, after 1000 and during
business hours, at the following locations:
a. Bly Rural Fire Protection District, 60800 Highway 140, Bly
b. Chiloquin Agency Lake Fire District Office, 201 S. 1st Ave, Chiloquin
c. Chiloquin Agency Lake Fire District Station 3, 9201 Sprague River
Road, Chiloquin
d. Bring your own spade shovels and appropriate safety equipment (gloves,
sturdy shoes).
e. See below and attached for proper sandbag filling measures.
3. Know your risk. Are you in the floodplain? Known areas that flooded in
1997 included Drews Road, Elde Road, Sage Hen Road, Saddle Mountain Pit Road,
MP5 Sprague River Highway, areas around Modoc Point Road on the Williamson
River, and the Rock Creek Ranch West of Doak Mountain.
