Subject: Announcement: Battle of the Badges Kick-off Blood Drive at the Police
Dept. next Wednesday

The annual Battle of the Badges begins next Wednesday, January 15, at a
kick-off drive held at the Klamath Falls Police Department on Shasta Way. The
competition runs from January 15 for a month, culminating in a final blood
drive at City Hall on February 14.

This epic 'battle' is actually a friendly competition between fire safety and
law enforcement personnel to encourage blood donations. These donors are
saving lives, both on and off the job. Donors will be able to vote for their
favorite agency, any law enforcement or fire safety entity, at the kick-off
drive (Jan. 15), and on Mondays and Tuesdays at the Klamath Falls blood
donation center. The final date to vote is Feb. 14th at City Hall.

A limited edition t-shirt will be given to each donor at the kick-off drive and
the final drive.

The kick-off drive is a collaboration of the City of Klamath Falls and Police
Department, Klamath County Fire District No. 1, and the American Red Cross.

Last year, the agency receiving the most amount of 'votes' was the Klamath
County Sheriff's Office.

We welcome any media inquiries or help in advertising this competition, where
the real winners are patients in need of life-saving blood.
