Nissans Gewinn liegt im dritten Quartal unter Erwartungen
Nissan Motor hat im dritten Quartal einen Betriebsgewinn verzeichnet, der unter
den Erwartungen lag. Grund dafür waren die höheren Marketingkosten und ein
stärkerer Yen. Der Betriebsgewinn von Japans zweitgrößtem Automobilhersteller
belief sich für den Zeitraum zwischen Oktober und Dezember auf 164 Milliarden
Yen (1,46 Milliarden Dollar), nachdem er im Vorjahr 193 Milliarden Yen betragen

Honda greift für Clarity-Pitch auf Visual-Effects-Guru Pes zurück
Honda Motor und die Werbeagentur RPA haben erneut den Visual-Effects-Guru Pes
damit beauftragt, einen Werbesport für das mit Wasserstoff betriebene Auto
Clarity zu entwickeln. Noch nie zuvor habe der Autobauer so viel in eine
Werbekampagne für ein Brennstoffzellenauto investiert wie in diese Kampagne,
sagt Steve Center, Vizepräsident der Abteilung zur ökologischen

Valeo plant Joint Venture mit Pyeong HWA
Valeo und sein koreanischer Partner Pyeong HWA Group wollen im Bereich Getriebe
ein 50/50-Joint Venture eingehen, das den Namen Valeo-Kapec tragen soll. Mit
ihrer Absichtserklärung streben die Unternehmen die Marktführerschaft im
Segment der Drehmomentwandler für Automatikgetriebe sowie für die in Asien
beliebten CVT-Getriebe (Continuously Variable Transmission) an. Im neuen
Unternehmen sollen die Stärken der beiden Partner gebündelt werden.

Osram profitiert vom Geschäft mit der Autobranche
Der Umsatz von Osram ist dank guter Geschäfte mit LED-Chips sowie bei
Autobeleuchtung im ersten Quartal (Ende Dezember) um 5,4 Prozent auf 991
Millionen Euro gestiegen. Das Ergebnis vor Zinsen, Steuern und Abschreibungen
wuchs um 13,8 Prozent auf 188 Millionen Euro an. Die um Sondereffekte
bereinigte operative Marge (Ebitda) hingegen sank um 0,2 Prozentpunkte auf 18

Panasonic baut Klimaanlagen-Geschäft in Asien aus
Panasonic teilte am 8. Februar mit, seine Produktionskapazität in Asien
auszubauen, um sein Geschäft in dem schnell wachsenden Segment mit
Raumklimaanlagen in der Region zu erweitern. Das japanische Unternehmen stellt
in Asien seit einiger Zeit Klimaanlagen her, wobei Panasonic Appliances
Air-Conditioning Malaysia als das weltweit leitende Werk für das

Nissan Q3 profit below expectations
Nissan Motor has posted a weaker-than-expected operating profit for the third
quarter as higher marketing costs and a stronger yen dampened earnings. Japan's
second-largest automaker reported an operating profit of 164 billion yen (1.46
billion dollars) for the October-December period, down from 193 billion yen a

Honda uses visual effects guru Pes to pitch Clarity
Honda Motor and ad agency RPA have once again tapped visual effects guru Pes to
create an ad for hydrogen-powered car Clarity. The campaign represents the
automaker's largest marketing investment to date for a fuel cell vehicle,
according to Steve Center, vice president of the environmental business

Valeo plans joint venture with Pyeong HWA
Valeo and its South-Korean partner Pyeong HWA Group plan to create a 50-50
gearbox joint venture that will be called Valeo-Kapec. With their memorandum of
understanding, the two companies aim for market leadership in the segment of
torque converters for automatic transmissions and for continuously variable
transmissions, which are popular in Asia. The strengths of the two partners are

Osram benefits from automotive business
Osram posted revenue of 991 million euros for the fiscal first quarter ended
December 31, representing a rise of 5.4 percent on robust demand for LED chips
and automotive lighting products. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation
and amortization (ebitda) grew by 13.8 percent to 188 million euros. However,
the operating margin (ebitda), adjusted for special effects, fell by 0.2

Panasonic expands air conditioner business in Asia
Panasonic on February 8 announced it is increasing its local production in Asia
in order to further expand its business in the rapidly-growing room air
conditioner market in the region. The Japanese company has been producing air
conditioners in Asian countries, with Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning
Malaysia positioned as the global mother factory for the air conditioning

GE wants to hire 5,000 more women to launch their tech careers there
In an effort to hit a 50-50 gender ratio in its technical entry-level
workforce, General Electric has announced plans to hire about 5,000 more women
in STEM positions by 2020. The U.S.-based engineering company currently has
about 15,000 women in those roles, said Linda Boff, GE's chief marketing
