Hello everyone: Warning: long note!At Wednesday Night's KARC meeting, it was agreed that RAC bulletins would be posted to the KARC Free List. I volunteered to do it as I receive them. I know there are other RAC bulletins that some people receive that I don't, ie. the RAC Bulletin read on ONTARS Monday at 17:30 local time.
I will post the RAC bulletins I receive individually. However, I've gathered the first 15 into one file that follows my signature. I've cleaned them up a bit by omitting repetitive header and footer info.
Cheers & 73, Steve VE3KC SB SPCL @ ARL $ARLX001 ARLX001 Earthquake Strikes Costa Rica, Emergency Ham Frequency Declared ZCZC AX01 QST de W1AW Special Bulletin 1 ARLX001 >From ARRL Headquarters Newington CT January 9, 2009 To all radio amateurs SB SPCL ARL ARLX001 ARLX001 Earthquake Strikes Costa Rica, Emergency Ham Frequency Declared On Thursday, January 8 at 1921z, an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale struck the Central American country of Costa Rica. The earthquake, with an epicenter located about 22 miles northeast of San Jose, comes after a series of almost 60 seismic events that have rocked the country since early this week. The Radio Club de Costa Rica (RCCR) -- that country's IARU Member-Society -- is monitoring local repeaters and 7090 kHz. IARU Region 2 Emergency Communications Coordinator Cesar Pio Santos, HR2P, requests that 7090 kHz be kept clear of non-essential traffic due to possible emergency communications dealing with the earthquake. The ARRL encourages all amateurs to be aware of the emergency operations on this frequency. US (and Canadian) amateurs should avoid interfering with Spanish language SSB while using digital modes. RAC News Bulletin Editor ---------- 2008-01-05 Canadian Ski Marathon 2009 - February 7 and 8, 2009 I would appreciate it if you would help me by spreading the word throughout your local ham radio communities. Once again the Canadian Ski Marathon is spooling up. This year we are looking forward to much more "normal" conditions and by that I mean snow! The CSM depends on ham radio volunteers to provide important and timely safety and logistical communication for the benefit of the skiers. The amateur radio CSM web page (http://radio.admin2.ca) is up and running with 2009 information and assignments are already being filled. If you would like to volunteer this year, please email Harold VA3UNK (radio1@xxxxxxxxx). Although I can't promise anything, assignment requests are generally first-come, first-served. Please join me the second weekend in February (7th-8th) and help make the 36th our best year yet! -- 73 de Harold, VA3UNK --- Vernon Erle Ikeda - VE2MBS Rêdacteur de service des nouvelles RAC. Preparations for the event, which was to be a second demonstration of cooperation between Canada (RAC) and the United States of America (ARRL) in emergency communications, had to be halted when Canadian government funding was suddenly and severely reduced due to the current world economic situation. Sincere thanks are extended to all who participated in planning for the event, including Canadian Consulate officials in Atlanta, GA and Raleigh, SC. Special mention goes to Matt McGuire, AF4UZ, ARRL EC for Horry County, who did so much of the leg work at Myrtle Beach, and his group of local Radio Amateur volunteers.
