A coil of coax is part of the design and build. Without the coil of coax
performance is very poor even on receive.
I'll dig mine out in the morning and take some pictures; I also have the
tuning instruction sheet.

Yes... AND I have a "Slinky Antenna" made from a kit that has been part
of my gear since the mid 70's.
Better on receive than on transmit.
