Nice Article here from VE8EV and his problems trying to get a Sweep during SS. The article is close to the bottom of the first page. For one thing, you never know when you’ll get all set up for something and the aurora will make for no propagation to anywhere. For another, it tends to generate a lot of email from guys asking things like “listen for me”, etc. I will probably post something to 425 before I go up to Banks Island in June. I did a write up of our SS effort at http://www.arrl.org/contests/soapbox/?con_id=162 73 John – VE8EV From: Robert Schofield [mailto:rgscho@xxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, November 19, 2008 7:00 PM To: John Boudreau Subject: Re: Nice contact John This is great news to hear. I will pass it along to the club. I would ask that you send a short article to TCA and let them know that there will be a club or contest station active in Inuvik and as well that you try to activate a rare island at times. There is a guy looking for the Queen Elizabeth Islands to be activated. He suggested to me that we (the NA-008) gang do that. But the cost would be quite some, and I am not sure if a plane even goes to them. Sounds like you are right into this, and getting active. Glad to have the conditions starting to improve. Please keep the world posted on dates you plan to be active. Even the 425 DX (DX Summit) new letter would be a good place to post your activity. That way the world will be aware of your activity. Lots of folks looking for your neck of the world. Sure wish I could be there to share it with you. Best I can do is try a contact when you are active. Tks again, and please keep in touch.
