Hello All!
If you are not from the USA you may not be aware of the struggle in the
schools of the USA over standardized testing and standardized testing ... this
is a
battle fought in Board Rooms and Classrooms and University Classrooms.
If you are from the USA, you are well aware how the battle rages over how
reading should be taught -- a structured approach with emphasis on the parts of
reading (phonics, etc.) or a more holistic approach. Recent Federal funding
calls for funding only "research-based" approaches.
This article shares what is happening in New York City Schools - a bit
different from what is happening in many places across the country -- thought
many
of you might find this interesting.
