Following an initial recruitment period, funded projects will enroll a new student cohort in each year of the project & will continue to support each previous TPDP student cohort. Applications Available: April 14, 2005. Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: May 24, 2005. Eligible Applicants: To be eligible for funding under the TPDP, a consortium must include at least one member in each of the following three categories: (1) A local educational agency (LEA), an intermediate educational agency, an area vocational & technical education school serving secondary school students, or a secondary school funded by the Bureau of Indian Affairs; (2)(a) A nonprofit institution of higher education that offers a two-year associate degree, two-year certificate, or two-year postsecondary apprenticeship program, or (b) a proprietary institution of higher education that offers a two-year associate degree program; & (3) A business. Estimated Available Funds: $9,838,177. Estimated Range of Awards: $700,000 to $800,000 for the 60- month project period. Estimated Average Size of Awards: $759,000. Estimated Number of Awards: 13. The Director takes this action under the Educational Technical Assistance Act of 2002 (Act), Title II of Pub. L. 107-279. The intent of these grants is to support the design, development, & implementation of statewide longitudinal data systems. Purpose of the Program: The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance to State educational agencies (SEAs) for the development of longitudinal data systems to efficiently & accurately manage, analyze, disaggregate, & use individual student data, consistent with the Elementary & Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended. These data systems will respond to the multiple information needs of key stakeholders, support State & local decision-making & facilitate needed research to improve student academic achievement & close achievement gaps. Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants are limited to SEAs. Grant awards assist local educational agencies (LEAs), in partnership with entities that have extensive content expertise, to develop, document, evaluate, & disseminate innovative, cohesive models of professional development. By helping teachers to develop a deeper understanding & appreciation of traditional American history as a separate subject within the core curriculum, these programs improve instruction & raise student achievement. Applications Available: April 15, 2005. Deadline for Notice of Intent to Apply: May 16, 2005. Deadline for Transmittal of Applications: June 14, 2005. Eligible Applicants: Local educational agencies (LEAs) -- including charter schools that are considered LEAs under State law & regulations -- working in partnership with one or more of the following entities: An institution of higher education, a non- profit history or humanities organization, or a library or museum. Estimated Available Funds: $117,000,000. Maximum Awards: The following awards are from the notice of final selection criteria & other application requirements published elsewhere in this issue of the Federal Register. Total funding for a three-year project period is a maximum of: $500,000 for LEAs with enrollments of less than 20,000 students; $1,000,000 for LEAs with enrollments of 20,000-300,000 students; & $2,000,000 for LEAs with enrollments above 300,000 students. LEAs may form consortia & combine their enrollments in order to receive a grant reflective of their combined enrollment. For districts applying jointly as a consortium, the maximum award is based on the combined enrollment of the individual districts in the consortium. If more than one LEA wishes to form a consortium, they must follow the procedures for group applications described in 34 CFR 75.127 through 34 CFR 75.129 of the Education Department General Administrative Regulations.
