      Find out what one historian thinks about the decisions made by
      Mary Mallon and public health officials of the time and what
      individuals and society should to consider when addressing

      Follow the evolution of quarantine, from Roman times to the
      present, in this illustrated time line. (Grades 5-8, 9-12)

      Disease Detective
      Use basic field epidemiology methods to trace the outbreak of a
      mysterious illness to its source. (Flash plug-in required.)

      Watch a Preview

      Examine the complex case of Typhoid Mary, a cook who was
      quarantined for life against her will in the early 1900s.
