The attached message is a public announcement forwarded from other sources. _http://drewkassal.homedns.org:8000/drew_kassal/docs_last_flight/_ (http://drewkassal.homedns.org:8000/drew_kassal/docs_last_flight/) My name is Kerry Neil Kassal, and I am the son of Drew Kassal and Vickie Kassal. On Monday, October 16th, 2006, my dad died of a heart attack. You are getting this email because my dad, in some way, touched your life. If you knew him well, you know how much he loved aviation. In addition to being an Air Traffic Controller Specialist, my dad was a flight instructor, and a model airplane instructor. He was a prolific pilot; on those rare weekends when he wasn't having "hundred dollar hamburgers," he was building or maintaining his model aircraft fleet, or even shooting poor-weather ILS approaches into the virtual airports of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Maybe you knew him as a congenial and peerless co-worker. Maybe you knew him as a reliable instructor and copilot who shared the corniest of jokes. You definitely knew him as a friend. My mother loved him very much and lost her best friend from whom she'd never been apart in 34 years. I just plain knew him and loved him as my father. Drew's family has decided to give Drew, ever the fun-loving and adventurous pilot, one last flight over the airport at which he spent so much of his free time with the friends he loved. If you ever respected him, if he ever taught you an important lesson, and if you ever loved him, please come to the Leesburg Airport patio for services at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 21st, 2006 at: 1001 Sycolin Rd Se Leesburg, VA 20175 We'll pay our respects, share some words from a few friends of his, and watch on as he takes one final flight above the airport he enjoyed so much before he is scattered on the winds above. Afterwards, we'll head over to reception at the Historic Holiday Inn at Carradoc Hall at: 1500 East Market Street Leesburg, Virginia 20176 We'll be served brunch, we'll share the rest of our stories and memories, partake of libations and remember the man we all knew and loved. Thank you, Kerry Neil Kassal and Vickie Kassal Notes: Drew was a very laid-back and easy-going person. Dress comfortably and casually for the event. Children are welcome to attend, but they may be restricted to behind the airport fence during the services; discretion is advised.
