Hi,

The audio material stays In the audio folder until you use the Clean Audio
Folder command within the Tools menu. If you're trying to reduce the size of
your bundles you need to run this command first.

Best wishes.

Hi Chris and all on this thread.
Interesting indeed.
I understand as you explained that all audio gets stored in the designated
audio folder, but my question really involves the way Sonar manages the audio
upon deleting a *portion* of the audio, from an existing audio file that it
references in that audio folder, irrespective of whether it comes from a
recording on that track from within Sonar, or whether it is an import into
Sonar. I'm wondering how Sonar manages deletes on that audio from the audio
folder.
I'm thinking of two possiblities:

1. Could it be that the audio gets chopped up, with the deleted portion lying
somewhere, and the remaining undeleted portion on either side of the delete
remaining chopped up as well. <smile> I seem to agree that the likely thing
happening is that everything remains somewhere in that audio folder as
discussed here earlier, but how then is it managed?

2. Or, could it be, that when you delete a segment for an existing audio
track, that Sonar marks the deleted portion as deleted, combining the rest of
the audio by just skipping over that deleted section during playback because it
has marked it as deleted? In this case, the audio would probably still remain
whole in the audio folder? Could that be?

Ok, so now, what happens when you save the project in let's say a bundle
(Cakewalk Bundle format? What happens to all that audio that was deleted?
Does it also get included in the bundle, as marked deleted audio, designated to
the end-user as muted clips or something?
Could this explain why bundle file size doesn't change significantly on
deleting lots of the audio and then resaving the bundle file?

Now I'm curious!

Hope you folks are all well and in good spirits.

The audio you record or import with sonar get's stored in the designated audio
folder, either a global one or one you created with the project, depending on
how you created your cwp or cwb file, and the audio stays there till you clean
it out.

This can come in handy if you make a mistake, but it can be quite daunting if
you have many clips trying to figur out where to slot them back in but at least
you do have the audio still.
