With all the endless problems our SBS users have had with the basic software we run I have my own thoughts. If you have ANY programs that write back to files in the original installation folder it is worth installing such programs outside the Program Files folder. Doing so will escape the UAC trap and stop many files being duplicated into the Virtual Store. I still keep programs on a separate drive to the OS but I hear that it isn't so critical these days. bones bones@xxxxxxx http://woodair.net From: jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jhb-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Phil Reynolds Sent: 22 October 2012 19:43 To: jhb@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [jhb] Win7 and FSX Hi all, Could I get a bit of advice from all the FSX Win7-64bit users out there? I'm moving to a Win7-64bit system in the next few weeks and have read various forum threads on how FSX should be installed/configured. My only FSX installations to date have been on XP-32bit so this is all new territory for me. Should I turn UAC off or install outside the "Program Files" folder? Do I need to delete the UIAutomation dll? Install FS/scenery/OS on separate HDDs? Lots of questions which I'm sure you guys will have gone through to set up your systems. Any advice on installation and configuration would be appreciated. Many thanks Phil
