You are indeed correct, the literal translation is "in the state of being
born".

 

Having imbibed alcohol for the first time this year (I think), I wouldn't

Dunno, check for wings level, no rudder input, rudder trimmed to compensate
for engine torque, winds calm, cross-check with ADI, indicating straight and
level.  

 

Nope, probably not.  Still can't be 100% sure though, visual referencing may
not be perfect and ADI may not be calibrated! <g>
