Steve, Nice to see  your post.  I think I know what you are asking.
right now, I have a quick launch tool bar on my desk top which I can access 
by going to the desktop with windows key plus letter M.  then from the 
desktop, i can tab over to this tool bar which has icons or buttons to 
launch AOL, IE other programs etc.
to get rid of this tool bar, go to control panel and enter on task bar and 
start menue.
you are now in a multi page dialogue box and on the task bar page which you 
should be in when you open this program, tab a number of times to where you 
will probably hear jaws say "show quick launch checked".  uncheck this with 
the space bar, tab over to okay and get out of control panel.  now this tool 
bar will be gone.
