Most things in your system tray are running applications.  You may want to
go into your Start menu folder and try taking them out of that folder before
deleting anything. Also you might want to check your config sys to see what
all you have running when your computer is turned on !

Have you tried pressing the applications key, immediately to the left of the
right-control key, and arrowing down to or pressing d for delete?  Then
press enter.  But it may depend on the system tray item that concerns you.
