still no sound

Hi
I emailed my blind friend and this is what he says:
yes i tried that somehow it got lost in the jaws menu so send a
email telling them i had it and lost it and i have tried control shift
f12 and it dose not turn it back on and if they know where i can
find out where i go to turn it back on.
he is running windows xp, he installed new outlook express and
messenger over old one and now lost his clicking sound when
someone types him a message.
