read selected

Hi,
I have a problem reading a menu items; For example if I go to the jaws
menu-help menu and then scroll down, nothing will be spoken. Also if I go
to the Ms outlook and try to scroll down through the list of received
emails, they want be read- I have to use read line in order to know which
email is selected.
I am using jfw 4.0- win xp
Can anybody please help me with this?
