Hi
I know this list in particular has had a lot of people sending
messages wanting to unsubscribe, but then they send the message to
the wrong address. For some strange reason, not known to me, the
unsubscription info is *supposed* to be at the bottom of every
message sent to the list, but i'm noticing lately that sometimes it
isn't. I am hoping that everyone will save a copy of this message
and put it in a place where you know you can find it, so you won't
end up creating more messages than necessary.
Recently, freelists has implemented a simple way to subscribe, or
unsubscribe using the web, instead of e-mail.
the format goes something like, http://freelists.org/list/listname,
where listname refers to the actual list name. so, in other words,
if you wanted to unsubscribe from this list, you would go to
http://freelists.org/list/jfw
and then on the page that comes up, you would enter the e-mail
address you're subscribed with.
Just underneath that, you will find a combo box with a few
different choices. subscribe, unsubscribe, go on vacation, come back
from vacation, etc. I don't know if that's the *exact* wording but
it'll make sense if you look. Anyways, just choose the action that
you want to do from the combo box, click the submit button and that's
really all there is to it.
It's a hell of a lot easier than fighting with an e-mail system that
seems to send really strange messages back. Of course you can use
either method of subscribing and unsubscribing, but given the shere
number of people having trouble with it especially on this list, I
think this is a much easier way to go.
Hope this helps folks.
