Hi,
I've found very few occasions when onmouse-overs work as advertised in the Surf's Up Series. The examples provided by FS certainly do, but the majority of the one's I've encountered in the wild don't, which leads me to conclude that (a) either the information resulting from the mouse-over action is graphical and thus not detected by JAWS, or (b) many web authors don't know how to properly code them so that they work properly.

Tom

Just as an addendum to Jerry's helpful contribution, the mouse over topic is
given a place of its own in the Freedom Scientific tutorial called Surf's
Up. Right there on the FS Web site, I believe as a link under the Jaws
Central section. It's a tutorial that has you go through the steps and
explains how to do it.

Having said that, I should also confess that I found the procedure so much
of a hassle, at least as it was explained there, that after working with the
tutorial and trying my best to absorb the technique, I never again paid
attention to these page elements, hoping that much of what they presented
was information that was relatively extraneous, or self-evident, or
redundant. But mileage may vary, as they say, depending on your temperament. ----- Original Message ----- From: "G.W. Cox" <gwcox2@xxxxxxxxxxx>

These are five-year-old instructions from Debbie Scales. I believe they
still apply--
Press insert six for the configuration manager.
Press control shift D for the default file.
Press alt S for the set options menu.
Press H for HTML options.
Control shift tab to the misc tab and uncheck the box for indicate
element
attribute.
Save your changes.

 Hello,

How did you disable mouse over?
 Thanks, Cheryl

I have disabled the on mouse over function for as long as the function
has been introduced. Thought of giving it a try but have the slightest idea
of how to use it.
   Running jaws9.
   Your helps is greatly appreciated!
   Thank you.
