Please don't take me wrong, but I am using Jaws 4.51 and on my old machine
with Windows 98 SE and I have never installed the patch and have never
encountered this problem. It just illustrates the fact that different
machines run differently and that doesn't mean worse or better, just
differently because of so many variables. On this machine which has Windows
XP pro, I am running 4.51 and have never installed the patch. I don't know
if I should because I hate to mess up a good thing. I don't know what the
problem is that you are having and hope you figure it out. From what you
are describing, it sounds like a memory leak of some kind. Are you using
Internet Explorer or some common program as you start experiencing this
slowdown? If someone else uses your computer without Jaws loaded does this
problem occur?
