jaws saying numbers

this is really interesting. I use word pad to store names and phone numbers.
I have text processing set to single digits. Everyone's number is spoken as
a single digit accept this one. her name is Jana and her number is 4479244.
When jaws reads her number is says it as four million four hundred sixty
none thousand and so forth. I wonder why this is. I tried putting her name
as jana1 and it read it in the signal digit format. I wonder why this is.
