Hey there David I did go to the windows update to see if I needed any but my
compaq said that I didn't need any. I didn't take anything I thought that
might hurt the sistem so I left it alone.Arlene

Subject: jaws and windows updates:

I wanted to mention that I have seen only one update adversely effect jaws
on a pc or two and when it was removed, things went back to normal. It was
one of the windows hotfixes, I think it ended in 493. It caused combo boxes
and the items on the desktop not to be readable for a couple of pcs.
Luckily, we were able to pin down the cause because it happened just after
the updates were installed and we knew which were the new ones. We
uninstalled them one at a time till we found the culpret and then went back
o windows update and got the ones that did not cause the problem and the pcs
were fine. This has not effected many pcs with jaws including mine and I am
not certain why it should have effected any pcs but maybe it had something
to do with msaa or accessibility.
