jaws and OCR and Scanners

When getting a scanner and OCR Software. What do you have to check for. The 
quality of the scanner, the quality of the OCR Software or both. Does the 
scanner brand really matter. I thought you had to check for the quality of the 
OCR software but now I'm not sure.
