help transferring files

I have a folder that is 7.28 gb(Most of my anime), and I want to transfer it to
anouther computer(my laptop to desktop), We have one of the quest modems(high
speed).
I want to know of a free site that will allow me to transfer it all, or if I
cal plug the usb into my laptop and other connection in to the modem, and the
eathernet cable into the modem and the desktop and would I be able to transfer
that way? It is a wireless modem as well; though I dont have any wireless cards.
I know this is not programming, but I thought someone would be able to help me.
