external synths and restoring backups

Here's the only reply I received till now.

I don't think Speakup supports usb synths.
But I don't own a hardware synth my self so I'm not sure.
I know Speakup supports serial port synths though and I think it's
possible to get a usb synth to work by using a usb to serial converter.
But don't quote me on that!
I use software speech with Speakup when I use Linux.

I doubt Orca (the GNOME screen reader) supports usb synths either.
In fact I don't use Orca at all.

But a good place to get answers is the Speakup mailing list.
The Speakup homepage can be found at:
http://www.linux-speakup.org/

There is a link to the mailing list on the front page.
There is a Orca mailing list as well but I don't have the address right now.
I can dig it up if you are interested, but a google search for "Orca
screen reader" should help as well :)

will the Linux boot work through a USB-connected external speech, giving us
JAWS throughout the restore? Somehow I don't think USB is active until
Windows is up and running again.

The latest acronis home 2011 is nightmare with jaws in my opinion. I tried
it few days ago. Totaly unusable without sighted help. I vote for Image for
Windows. You receive Image for DOS and Image for Linux. And you can create
vinux (a Linux distribution) live cd and have speech durring the
restoration. Also you can create linux boot cd that you can use with
external speech synthesizer.

I use Image for Windows, which has a very good interface with JAWS, both
for
setting up your image and scheduling, as well as being able to recover
what
you imaged. The only weak point is that when your system has completely
crashed, there is no JAWS to speak so I need to have sighted help to start
a
complete restore from the boot CD.

Another product that has received equal praise is Acronis, also usable
with
JAWS.

Both are pretty moderately priced. interface.

Ghost 10 was usable, but not what I'd call JAWS-friendly. I was able to
setup a backup, though I didn't have to actually *use it. What *is
JFW-friendly in good system backup/recovery?
TIA

Suggest you call them on the phone. I don't use Norton products any longer
since their Antivirus since it was horrible with JAWS and really slowed
down
my computer. When I was using it I upgraded by calling them directly.

I'm sure they'll be happy to take your money. BTW How well does Norton
Ghost
work with JAWS (even if the upgrade site doesn't)?

I've never had a harder time than with the Norton Website.

I *want to pay $70 bucks for Norton Ghost 15, but, using JFW 12, I
*cannot seem to actually make a purchase.

Help?
